We have no manga pages yet so this is all speculation, but i think it could stop an edo. We have only seen edo's regenerate damage sustained from normal sources, when there was pieces of the body left around. If the corpse that binds the spirit to earth was completely consumed, the soul wouldn't have anywhere to be..

Not really, the ammateratsu flame burns until there is nothing left, after that it expels. Then the edo body will just regenerate back to it's original form.

Madara got completely obliterated by the Meteor jutsu and still regenerated. Amataerasu will dissapear when everything is burnt then the Edo Tenseid person will just regenerate as long as the jutsu is active.
