In my own opinion I don't see why Itachi would go so far for the leaf if he were a uchiha, At such a young age to perform at Hokage level however, I believe that Shisui asked Itachi to come meet him, Used Kotoamatsukami on him and he wanted to protect the leaf. Could that be why Shisui decided to give one of his eyes to itachi? Well, 10 years to activate, Sasuke's family & the uchiha died when they were very, very young. 10 years every Kotoamatsukami, Could it be possible that Shisui used it on Itachi to make him protect the leaf?
