Deidara's explosion was massive and he had yet to get full control of kamui and had already used kamui twice in a stage where he didnt have efficiency with the tech. and he also attempted to do a giant one on the gedo mazou's neck again after having used kamui once already in the otbi fight.

No thats a poor interpretation of the translation, he didn't say his chakra is 3 times more powerful when using kuramas chakra.
HE stated that his technique is maginified by at least 3 fold when using kuramas chakra - which basically means he can do more with the same amounts of chakra.
