It's sad that people still don't even partially understand Kishi's way of doing things after all the years reading his manga.
Hashirama would have never killed himself for Madara's sake. That would've been an extremely selfish act. Hashirama was well aware of how much the world needed him and his ideology, so why on Earth would he rid the world of his very own existence for Madara's sake?
You're implying that Hashirama held Madara above the shinobi world.

Impossible as this was before the creation of Konoha and therefore, Hashirama couldn't have commited suicide as he became the First Hokage.
