Hashi defeats madara but sacrifice himself to save hes life . Thats how hashi dies .
P S . he may killed himself after battle with madara but that would be so lame.

Well, not sure about it. As it was told earlier that Hashirama died during first world war. So not sure but soon we will come to know about it.
