i don't think minato knows tobimaras jutsu the FTG is Minato's own jutsu he just knows that tobirama had s/t jutsu we have not been giving in full detail what the Second Hokage's space time ninjutsu was

I think everyone in the academy would have to learn about the previous and present Kage, besides, it wouldn't to hard to find out, just ask someone. Hashirama died before Minato was born but he still knows about his wood style?
You could argue that Wood Style was his main jutsu, but Tobirama would have used S/T Ninjutsu just as much as he did his water jutsu.

Tobirama was a Hokage. Like many people knew about Hashirama's Might and his Mokuton. May be in the same way, people knew about Tobirama, his water jutsu and S/T techniques.
