I don't know about the fodders being that strong. You're underestimating the current kage. Madara was on the ground because he fought their clan leader, Hashirama Senju. Oh and the current 5 kage were wrecked because Madara was brought back essentially stronger than he ever was.

However, it can be true seeing as they survived against EMS Madara, who was just barely under Hashirama, who was stated to make the Gokage's combined efforts look like nothing. You can say Hashirama's not at the pinnacle at his power yet, but as the manga implies that at his best he can take the Gokage low-mid difficulty, I wouldn't doubt that he could take a few if not all of them very high difficulty at this point in time.

Those unnamed "fodders" may very well just be that powerful for surviving.

So, some of the Senju, who were fighting along Hasharima & Tobirama, and likely the higher ups, having lived through the war, are = to a bunch of fodders vs Madara...

Those weren't Senju fodder, but rather some of the Senju's most proficient, undoubtedly protected by Hasharima and Tobirama throughout the fight.
