    Symbolism in Naruto - Colour

    Did you know....

Sasuke's color scheme is dark - dark hair, dark eyes, dark blue (and eventually gray and black) clothing, and a blue aura.

Sakura is associated with the color red, whereas....

Naruto is associated mainly with the color yellow and other bright colors.

When put together (blue for Sasuke, red for Sakura, and yellow for Naruto) they make up the three primary colors, which symbolize harmony?

    -Naruto's eye colour: Blue

Blue is an intense and energetic color that has connotations of the wide-open sky, sun energy, electricity, the power of conscious thought, and that which is direct and unhidden. According to the aspect of Hinduism involving the energy-centers known as chakras, the color blue corresponds to the sixth chakra, also known as the third-eye chakra, and is associated with visual psychic phenomena such as clairvoyance and seeing visions of future and past. Blue eyes may indicate a forceful, direct person who has an immense vitality and a gift for insight and observation.

    -Sakura's eye colour: Green

Green is a vibrant and fresh color that has connotations of life-force, vegetation, rejuvenation, youthfulness, and health. In the chakra system, green is the color associated with the fourth chakra, also known as the heart chakra, and is associated with empathy, compassion and the power to heal. The fourth chakra is associated with the path of devotion that elevates spiritual love above religious ritual. Green eyes can indicate a youthful-seeming and compassionate person of boundless energy who has immense creativity as well as the gift of healing.

Not to mention Kushina was nicknamed for a red pepper and Minato was famed as the "Yellow Flash", Naruto's appropriate self-styled title of "Orange Hokage" refers to the fact that the colour orange is a mixture of red and yellow.

Also purple is on the opposite side of the spectrum of red and the sharingan eventually morphs into the rinnegan finally making its way over to the shade of purple

Re: Symbolism in Naruto - Colour

Saw a nice argument on TvTropes describing color symbolism.

    Orange and red symbolize power.

Who wears red? All of the Akatsuki, Choji, Jiraiya. Probably more as well. Uzumaki have red hair.

Who wears orange? Naruto and Obito. Yahiko and Juugo have orange hair.

ALL of these characters have MASSIVE destructive power.

Re: Symbolism in Naruto - Colour

It's just good design sense when the three of them are going to be seen standing together a lot. It's basic. Also when you look at them in black and white in the manga, they have balanced lights and darks. If you put them together all of the darks are not too heavy on the top or bottoms between them. It's mostly in the middle in Sakura, top on Sasuke, and Naruto has little darks on him but Sasuke kinda balances that out.

Red means power, strong emotions like anger and the like, and danger. Look at my earlier post for something loosely related.

    Red

Red is a powerful color in traditional Japanese society, representing strong emotions rather than ideas. As the color of the sun in Japanese culture and on the Japanese flag, red is the color of energy, vitality, heat, and power.

The 3 primary colors symbolize harmony trollololol, you say naruto's color is yellow when the obvious choice would be orange trololol, no effort made in determining what sasukes eye color means trololoolollol

x__x, interesting theory but the conclusion the completely determined by you carefull chosing what colors represent what. For instance you give Sasuke Blue because he wears blue, Sakura Red because she wears red, and Naruto Yellow because he has yellow hair? Why the sudden change from what they are wearing?

You point out Sakura and Narutos eyes because they can be molded to seem like they have relevance but ignore Sasuke as his eyes dont.
