Naruto's Progression and Overall Character Development

This is for the actual character Naruto by the way. Many people have been saying that Naruto's character hasn't matured or developed but I think he has. I wanted to get people's perspective on their opinions about his overall character.

I'm going to make the same thread on Sasuke as well.

Well, at the start of the series, he charged Zabuza thinking he'd solo a jounin, he played pranks on people and his strategical side of battles were terrible, bar the plan he made too distract Zabuza.

He's alot smarter now, he's also alot 'wiser' after meeting Nagato and training with Jiraiya.

He's definitely matured compared to his earlier years.

But he still needs to do some more maturing before trying to lead a village. His idealistic happily-ever after ways of thinking don't always work. That's how life works.

is character hasn't developed. he went from:
anyone can become strong with hard work, I'm gonna make it with my own hard effort.
    to:
I am the child of prophecy.

and in a world where ninjas are always killing each other in pointless wars, he's still never killed a weak ninja.

Yes, Naruto has matured since Jiraya died and he met Nagato....Naruto wasn't listen to Jiraya wise words when he was alive and only card about being the student of the legendary Sannin, but came to understanding Jiraya's dream of one day people coing to understanding each other and a world without hatred.

    he fodderized Kakuzu
OT:He has matured a lot,he still has a long way to go
I think Sasuke vs Naruto fight(if it happens) will play a big part in him developing as a char.
People call him generic and all that,i dont see him like that he has a lot of flaws and he is obviously not a mairy sue(got his ass handed so many times),he had a messiah complex for a while but he realised that he was wrong.
He is a great main character overall.

Naruto has grown in many ways, he is starting to question the world and is showing signs of maturity, and he is growing wiser.

Exactly my thouhts his improvement of skills were not even that intense; and all that lineage and child of prophecy things debunked his "underdog" side.
Also people who he "tnj" keep getting converted into his "idealogies" or opinions while his ideas do not get to change a lot. He is doing and following ideals mainly because of his father, Jiraiya etc; he should have more of his own point of view.

Do you know what it means to be an idealist? He does not consider practical outcomes. He thinks he can go into a World War and not have any of his friends die. That is immature thinking. Deaths are inevitable in such a large scale battle.

Although he does realize this now, he still has a ways to go in maturing, if he wants to be Hokage.

Oddly enough even historically the idealistic ones are the best leaders, ahem George Washington, ahem, Gandi.

Good for them. But this is Naruto, not real life. Superhuman abilities do not exist in our world, unlike NV.

Therefore, trying to compare the idealistic ways of the two does not work, since it is more practical to consider a lot more possible deaths when people can summon meteors and shoot fireballs, rather than people shooting guns.

I'm sorry I had no idea you decided how a manga about how friendship is magic and never giving up solved everything was going to end and that you understood the Narutoverse better then the rest of us.

Edit: And if you think the Narutoverse has it bad, you really need to check the news, real life is much worse.

Where is Sasuke even coming from...? Sasuke is on another level of maturity than Naruto.

You clearly do not know what you're talking about. Sasuke has seen both sides of the coin. He knows what if feels like to be a criminal, and he knows the wrongdoings of the Hokage. Sasuke has nothing to do with this discussion.
