Like his son, Sakumo was a gifted shinobi praised for his talents in the ninja arts even by the likes of Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage. In battle, Sakumo was a truly powerful shinobi, and in his time, his powers were said to surpass those of the Sannin. The mere idea of facing Sakumo brought fear to enemies, as shown from the reaction of an Iwagakure shinobi initially believing Kakashi to be his father. His primary weapon during battle was a tantō called the White Light Chakra Sabre that would emit a trail of white chakra when swung, earning him the nickname "Konoha's White Fang". After he died, he left his tantō to Kakashi, which was later on cut in half when Kakashi fought Kakkō, an Iwagakure shinobi.
He has some similarities to Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage.
Both were respected and feared throughout the world.
Both had resemblances with their sons.
Both died in their sons' youth and because of their deaths, their respective sons would later grow up to be shinobi seen as surpassing their fathers.
Both were able to speak with their sons after death.

DO you think Kakashi will show his fathers abilities

as your post states they have surpassed their father.. no need for kakashi to show his fathers abilities really... i mean the only ability we know of is the tanto but kakashi dosent have his fathers tanto anymore

I don't think Kakashi surpassed Sakumo yet, he is powerful but Sakumo was said to be on par or greater than the Sannin. Kakashi not yet. I do want more from Kakashi though he may at the end of the manga grow to be as powerful as his father.

Kakashi owns the sannin.
Ms beats Jiraiya and Orochimaru, and even without sharingan he can kill tsunade.

:Dkakashi is stronger than tsunade and a full powered orochimaru. i believe that after the pain fight he surpassed jiraiya or is on an even level with him. plus the fact he fought sasuke pretty well despite the fact sasuke's vison was kinda blurry and he was exhausted from whooping both the raikage and danzo's asses

Its hard to tell whether Kakashi has surpassed his father or not. Sakumo attained the same respect as the Sannin(Sakumo stronger or weaker is not mentioned). We have seen improvement in Kakashi. But the more he use MS, he might lose his left eye. Without MS, he may not be as powerful as his current self. But presently, i say he is at the level or may be higher than his father.
One more criteria is that during the Sannin era, there was no one stronger than Sannin in Konoha(forget Hokage). In the current era, among the Jounins there is no one stronger than Kakashi, so it can be said that he is at the same position as the Sannin. He might defeat Tsunade, who knows?
