    Defending Rap/Hiphop

    First off I want to say that I'm a fan of all music except for mexican "corridos" and Juggalo rap. That being said I want to shine some light on a few statements made by some NB members. When Asking for feedback on my newest songs (thank you to the people who actually give an opinion) instead I get, "Rap is overrated" "Rap sucks" "Rock is the best" "rapping is easy, so it sucks". Did you know that in 2012 Country was the number 1 Genre? Followed by;

    2. Classic Rock
    3.Pop
    4. 80s-90s hits
    5.alt. rock
    6. Oldies
    7. Rap/hiphop
    8. R&B
    9. Soft Rock
    10. Metal

Oh Wait, Rap/hiphop isn't even in the top 5 ! Hows hip-hop overrated? As far as it being overrated on NB- If you don't like the fact that the music section is filled with hip-hop, then do something about it and share your favorite jams! I would love to hear them! Just Don't sit there and blame us hiphop heads for having the love and passion for hiphop to show it off publicly !

Also stop saying that rapping is easy to do. All genres of music are hard in their own respects. Rapping doesn't come as natural. It takes years of practice and skill to rhyme perfectly on spot. Before bashing this genre take a second and think about what the f*ck your about to say LOL

edit-Before the "youre butt-hurt" comments, yes I am. I love all kinds of music, If alt.rock was getting bashed ide defend it too ! lol xD

That was horrible, Simon Cowell would have said something worst. I can drop a sh*tty classical rock song just as your example. Horrible example man.

This is what an experience rapper would write-
The black rings define pain in her sunken eye sockets
She tries to wipe away the sleep inside her eye optics
she falls in to focus, as if the pictures clear . . .
Once again she tunes back in to the crude world she fears

    Re: Defending Rap/Hiphop

There wasn't any famous country musicians in 2012, so I think that list is bogus. Unless, Everyone liked Taylor Swift (if you can call that country) so much that everyone neglected every other genre and her alone made it number 1.

Also, I don't make fun of rap/hip hop. I just don't like it. I don't listen to it at all, and refuse to, but I don't make fun of it either. I'm just not associated with that type of music. It doesn't appeal to me.

Yeah i'm cool with that though, you don't got to be a big fan of rap. Just don't neglect the fact that it takes time and practice to make a great hiphop song just as any other genre too, you know?

    I like music.

    Rap is not music.

When rap is included in the middle of a song ... I tolerate it. Still not my favorite.

What about the music in the background? Come correct. "Would you call some of the songs Johnny Cash did music? Some of his songs he just narrated over the MUSIC, so it is still considered music. He just talked over the music. Rap is music with spoken words. Sometimes there is an occassional singing verse within the track, but it's still music". I'm talking about true hip-hop and rap, not that lil Wayne and future BS.

    Fair enough.

I still prefer to be enveloped in eargasm-inducing rock ballads. The depth of an orchestra. The crisp simplicity of a piano.

    I suppose our tastes differ

    Re: Defending Rap/Hiphop

my question is if rap isnt music than wtf is it?? haha i mean if you want to say rap and hip hop are two separate things than there is defenitely no arguing that hip hop is music. you could possibly say rap within hip hop=music
