Children do not always get everything from one parent or another sometimes they get it from grand parent to. Naruto may have powers common to both Senju and Uchiha by way of the Uzumaki. You may see it as Naruto test His new powers, He has already inherited The SO6P Seal, Who knows what else He may now have powers that were dormant in Him that The Fox chakra may have awaken.

Now the reason Naruto isnt considered a relative of the Uchiha (and is considered a relative fo the Senju) is because of the fact that he is sooooooo very very very(!) distantly related to the other son of the SO6Ps . The forefather of the Uchiha clan.

I agree with OP, the manga said the Uzumaki are distant relatives of the Senju, they never said the Senju gave birth to the Uzumaki it was also never said that the younger son was a senju, he gave birth to the senju.

Plus, Uzumaki might just be an offshoot of the Senju, as they are distantly related...maybe the Senju get their water element from the Uzumaki...
