deathnote? bleach? i guess.... i really don't know what you're asking for, but since i saw durarara written in there , i guess that you are looking for an anime where the characters wander around the city so that you can see more of the city and not only powers and fights and all that shit that is going on , on the animes lately , did i get that right? what you're looking for , i mean.

Wolf's Rain has a few nice city settings, though they spend a good amount of time in the wilderness, too.

Hmm, the current One Piece arc is set upon a spanish theme, although i don't know the exact city.

This said, nearly every arc in ONE PIECE has a different city directly relating to a modern city but its hard to find out which one as i'm not that good with geography aha.

Not really, I've come across many people who love it, and yet they aren't psycho.

OT: I'm also positive trigun and trigun maximum are set in present or Fututre age. The theme might look ruined as humans are being pushed and invaded by planets, not really invade, but in a state of poverty relying on plants.
