well... I wasn't as touched as you guys. Simply because I don't know these characters well enough. We haven't barely seen anything from minato or kushina... So i couldn't really relate to them. I.e. when Jiraiya died, I got very emotional

It's not them that your relating to, it's naruto, understanding how he would be feeling.

Re: Thank you for allowing me to be a fan of Naruto!
yeah good chapter... I like how the manga stays at the same high level of quality (compared to the anime for example or bleach...) and it's not easy to do that so all my respect to Kishi !

i nearly cried at this one. it was extremely emotional. i think kishi has done a great job in getting us to feel naruto's pain in this chapter, really touched me.

You cried? ehh...ok...
Anyway, sure nice to see what happened all those years ago, but I was hoping for more of a fight than just...this.
And seriously, why don't good guys EVER die from decapitation?
That way they can't have boring death speeches.

I too was expecting more of a fight. For all of Kishimoto's intense battles, they usually go on for about nine to twelve chapters, in the case of Naruto vs. Pain, and Sasuke vs. Itachi. This one was not even seventeen pages, which is the regular length of one Naruto chapter. As a matter of fact, about 80 percent of it was talk between Minato and Madara. Despite everyone's overwhelming opinion that Minato won, in the end it's not that easy to draw such a conclusion. It was a stalemate at best. I'm not saying this because I prefer Madara more than Minato (which I do), but you have to consider that having the Nine-Tailed Fox is not an unfair advantage for Madara; just as anyone else's weapon in their arsenal, the fox was one of Madara's.
The only reason Madara retreated after Minato landed a hit on him was because he knew, simply, that there were other ways to win the war ("many doors are still left open to me"). Despite losing in their one-on-one battle, Madara's actions did force Minato to give up his life. Madara was stopped, but a steep, steep price for Konoha. Minato and Kushina died, the village was left in ruins, and many other ninja fighting for the village's sake also lost their lives that night. What Konoha sacrificed that night is unobtainable now; but Madara, losing the fox, can retain it, though it will be difficult to do so. Two players in a game; one dies, the other remains alive - who wins? Maybe what Madara "saw through" will be revealed in a separate flashback (perhaps not from Kushina), because Kishimoto has a tendency for twists. Something about this matter just feels as if it hasn't been resolved yet. Maybe others feel the same way.
