I don't think going into the 8 gates would kill Gai. Listen, I know it clearly states that going into the 8 gates kills the user but think back to the Choji vs. Jirobo battle. Choji's 3rd pill was supposed to kill him, but he lived. I think this is what will happen to Gai. Gai will sacrifice himself and go into the 8 gates to protect his comrades, but because of his will of fire and faith in others, he won't die. I hope this happens, because I like Gai, and if he goes into the 8 gates and dies now, I will be upset.
