[Discussion] Shikaku Nara - Genius Strategist? Probably

I wonder how awesome, Shikamaru's dad, Shikaku is at strategies. You've got to figure he must be amazing since he's a Jonin Commander and the one ninja Tsunade chose to take with her when the Shinobi Alliance first met up.

Shikaku was the only active shinobi summoned to the meeting over the next hokage and he nearly had Kakashi elected then, if not for Danzo's jutsu. Shikaku beat Shikamaru in shogi the one time they played while Asuma had never come close.

Shikaku is probably the Head Strategist who Tsunade consults with concerning larger battles.

Anyway, i think Shikaku is probably awesome and intellegence probably runs in the family, although i reckon when Shikamaru reaches his age, he would have surpassed his father but yeah, Shikaku seems to be strong for all the reasons you stated.

I agree with you. I believe shikaku to be a better strategist than shikamaru because of his years of experience on to of brilliant mind. However I think that shikamru will eventually surpass him sometime in the future

Every generation surpasses the previous one eventually so it absolutely makes sense that Shikamaru will pass Shikaku. Hope to see Shikaku play a huge war in the 4th Ninja War.
