well i know what da power matchup looks like but hear me out....1st off lets look at bugs, day burrow thru earth (sand in gaara's case)..with dat said da sand is chakra based and shino's bugs eat chakra (like samehada) so if he can get dem to burrow into da sand it would mean trouble for gaara...not to mention shino smarts are compared to dat of shikamaru...da thing is to survive long enough to do all dat...da only way dat would happen is to have time to set something up if not den shino would lose...but i like shino dats y i want him to win..lol..oh but shino is da only of da rookie 12 to not lose a fight...him and da 4th are da only two dat r undefeated...but to be real gaara would win

More clever? Better?.......Shino isn't a kage and he's not more clever and better than Gaara. Gaara's the Kazekage and that wasn't just because he was a Jinchuuriki.We have seen Shino fight and his limits and we seen Gaara's.

Gaara ftw i mean saying that madara almost got beat if it hadnt been for his invulnerability is like saying sasuke would have lost to naruto in th valley of end without his sharingan or naruto would have lost battles without the kyuubi and so on. Every one has their skills which gives them their advantages so its not really fair to say that someone without that ability would lose.

READ manga or just WATCH anime! gaara isn't a Uzumaki and shino isn't a senju he is an aburame because if he was a senju he would be called shino senju not shino aburame and senju's leader was the first and yes he was the one who defeated madara who is said to be the strongest uchiha and he can beat gaara if he wanted to because he reuses his sand...puts it back in the the thing on his back but bugs can hide there

Well that defence can also backfire on gaara as well like it did with deidrea and without the bomb it would be bugs that would snick up and just because you are a kage don't mean you are the smartest or the strongest because tsunade is not the smarter than shikamaru and tsunade or gaara is not stronger than naruto and so my point is that just because gaara is a kazekage doesn't mean he is a winner automatically and I pick shino because he beat kankuro with no sweat

I vote for Gaara, Even though his not a jinchuuriki anymore. I think his technique and skills is way better than shino. And his sand is the absolute defense. That is an avantage for him. unlike shino, Shino uses his insects, For sure Gaara will makeup a plan to counter those insects.

We never saw Shino's limits, he nefer fought in a battle that he was about to die (Like Gaara vs Deidara) to him in Shippuuden ARC.

Shino is not hokage just becuase he's underrated and barely shown in the manga, and besides Leaf got strong shinobis to be Kages, unlike Sand that has noone strong except Gaara's team (Unless Baki has Sharingan >_>)

it is clearly stated that shino is smart and he likes to hide and do his things in hiding before he knows he can put his enemy down, gaara is a still fighter! he do not move! but we have to take the kazekage more seriosly! if you see the fight againt kimiamaro he uses very much sand, not just the one on his back. I belive that he has more sand than shino has bugs and will beat shino because of that. sorry for my english!
