Actually these are the glasses he was wearing before going to the ninja academy, an the other thing below the glasses, is something he has is his left shoulder's uniform

the symbol is the uzumaki-clan-symbol and the glasses are his old ones.

Yes while the two symbols aren't exactly the same they both are indeed representation of the same thing.
This symbol has occurred various time in the series, as some poster on this thread have posted, this is why I think that that symbols hold very storng conections with the final Synopsis or Plot in Naruto.

I think its already been explained as the symbol from the land of whirlpools. Thats where narutos mother and a lot of the sealing juitsu come from its been distroyed since. Check the mangas around where Narutos undoes the seal that his dad repaired. Narutos mom goes on to explain the symbol and where it came from, stands for, ect. Also more ninja wear the symbol except its red. I think kakashi wears one on his back or shoulder as an example.
