it did burn gaaras sand the black fire burns for 7 days and 7 nights unless sasuke puts out the flame or you seal it like jman did in the hotel. but if gaara were to put the black fire into his gourd then it would of spread but he prolly just threw it away

omg why is no one stating the obvious its chakra infused SAND! has any one every try to burn sand or set it on fire??? regular sand is resistant to fire so using chakra could easily double that resistance to fire. that is why it couldnt "burn". and yes heated up sand does turn into glass but garra can easly ground it up and make it into sand again as hes shown before.

Well according to the manga the fire is as hot as the sun so saying its because the sand was infused with chakra makes NO SENSE because the black flames contrary to what most think in this thread they DON'T turn things into ASHES INSTANTLY ON IMPACT.

THERE are LOTS OF EXAMPLES OF THIS IN THE SERIES, I'LL NAME A FEW.

1) Killer bee was in pain for a while before sasuke put the flames out and he didn't turn to ashes on contact.
2) forth raikage also was burned and yet he had time cut his arm off, again no instant ashes.
3) When itachi used the black flames against sasuke he engulfed the forest and ground and that didn't burn the place to ashes on impact. Also yamato later used earth jutsu to covert he fires.
4) The black fire was completely engulfed a samurai at the kage fight with sasuke and yet his armor wasn't turned to a crisp, which gave time for kanko to save him with his puppet chakra strings to take of his Armour without him touching the flames exactly like in garras case.

Its pretty obvious guys its SLOW BURNING. A flame can be very hot and be slow burning, I would explain an example of this in the real world but you guys should look into it on google.

Because garra wasn't in contact with the flames why would he care about the flames slowly burning the sand, the same way the black flames have the same affect on the ground.

I think the major problem here is that most don't realize how the black flames work exactly and why they are hax.The black flames are almost impossible to put out with conventional jutsu. So if it were burning you other than the pain you got to deal with but you can't get rid of it. Its like when you have sticky glue on your fingers as soon as you your other hand to get rid of the glue it goes onto to your other fingers or even if you use a piece cloth the glue then goes on the cloth, see what i mean.

Wat I think is that
1. Sasuke may be too tired to to do that.
2.Fire can't burn fire.
3. Sasukes' amataretsu didn't burn susanoo as it was a absolute defence, so the sand also didn't burn as it was absolute defence.
4. Also, if u would notice, the fire was continuosly burning on the parts whr it struck, as sand is not a good conductor so it didn't expand bt the fire kept on burning. It tells that Amataretsu burns only that which comes in its contact and not anything which comes in contact with the thing getting burnt
