Why is Tobi/Madara's mask only show one of his eyes?

Kakashi, Danzo and Ao cover their eyes because they can´t deactivate them and would lose chakra without even doing anything. Atleast that´s why Kakashi and Danzo only reveal their eyes in battles.. Ao on the other hand seems to be able to use his byakugan even while it´s covered.

and have you ever seen Madara turn off his sharingan??

I think it was that basic concept.I think he wanted the people who are really good at guessing who a character might be, to guess it was Obito, so they would be that much more surprised when they found out it was Madara.

madara switch his mask from time to time in the battle sasuke vs deidara we can see madara using his left eye.so i think showing one eye at a time is a style thing for him.fact http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GX2yyya7u70

lol this is simply not true, he does not switch his mask from time to time. its just that a lot of vids get inverted. things go opposite of what they normally are.

Well i think that revealing the other eye did not go with the design of the mask i mean imagine that 2 Vortexes ending up in 2 eye holes the intermingle at the center would have been pretty lame so i think considering the fashion of that time madara revealed just one of his eyes
