Help With Theory Construction

Okay, so I was in the 'Naruto Manga' section, and I saw all of these lame theories. I wasn't sure if I should put this there or not, so may as well jsut put it in 'General Discussion' just to be safe. Some people seem to completely ignore what makes a good/believable theory, and so I thought I may as well just lay out the basics. Feel free to add or change anything if you think it's necissary.

1) The theory must make sense. You would not BELIEVE how many theories I've read that just plain out don't make sense. I mean, please, just think through your theories before you post them for everyone to see/flame.
2) The theory must have some impact on the manga. C'mon people. If you have a theory, but it doesn't impact the story at ALL, it's not a theory, it's more of a speculation. And if you describe how it relates to the story thus far, and how it'll impact the story down the road, in a later post, why couldn't you just put it in the main thread. I mean, c'mon!
3) The theory cannot contradict itself, and more importantly, the actual story. Pretty straightforward. If the theory contradicts itself, it can't work. If the theory contradicts the story thus far, you're going to get flammed SO badly, don't even bother.
4) Be ready to defend your theory. If you make a theory, EVERYONE's going to want to poke holes in it, so be ready for that. Make sure you can defend it from every angle, or else people will disregard it as spam.
5) It would be best to provide proof. While I know that most people don't know the exact chapter/page number the even takes place on, you could at least look up the proof you have on your theory (or what made you think of it). Links, pictures of the page, or even just stating that you think it happened, and asking people to back you up, will all help your theory gain rep. Theories without proof are thrown into the trash bin with no more than a quick flame.

These are just a few things I could think of that would help both the writers and readers of theories. Please note that I may have exagerated a few things, but that's just the way I am. I'm always exagerating things. Are there going to be people who disregard this when making their theories? I'll answer that with another question. Are there people who disregard the bio template when making bio's? I'd like to hear your opinions on this thread.

You forgot that proof ( e.g links ) should be provided to back up what you are saying.

But i Certainly agree with you here, the only reason i honestly go on these Theory threads is to see if it is Worthy Of Flame !

Yeah, this thread was purely...no wait...I've still haven't got words to describe it properly even after 2 days...Never mind!
Comin' back to this, well, you summarised it properly but I doubt the fools will understand. No brains people will remain brainless even after some very great words and moral....

That's the reason that Mugi created this Sticky Manga Section... but people barely follow it...

didnt even look/post at that thread its easier not to post or give it validity even to prove it wrong. Let it die quietly and it will sink slowly to the bottom of the archives of NB like Jirya in the ocean beneath the rain village.. but your points about constructing a theory are nice.

Lastly theorys are not laws or rules, their a way to explain a given idea or event. Untill proven or disproven true. People are allowed to be wrong and have stupid ideas.But when they express those ideas(espically here on NB) they are also accepting the fact that other people have the opertunity to prove them wrong/ignorant of other facts. Some handle it better than others, some people get ass hurt and cant be wrong about anything, (because they know all and see all... lol) but some people can also see where their ideas were flawed and just say ok I was wrong or I missed that part, thanks for the update and either keep reworking their theory, or drop it all together and move on with their life.

^ That's my policy as well...if someone posts a theory that's pointless, or doesn't make any sense, and is likely to attract flame, I just don't post in it, hoping it will just disappear....I mean, when you post in something, your giving it more attention...so post in the right threads!

I like your rules/guidelines, but they just seem so obvious to me. If your posting a theory, it should be obvious your going to need proof, that you should be ready to defend it (and also accept being wrong), and that it doesn't contradict itself, etc...

thanks, also people need to not form their theorys upon opinions instead of factual info.ideas are like butts, everyone has them, and if you put your out for people to see be ready for the good bad and ugly.

Examples. People who think Shikamaru is the best and is unable to be beat. FTW! This is an personal opinion.

Look at his previous battles, he would have been in a hill of crap against that chick from the sound 5, if tamari hadn't showed up he would have got his ass handed to him.
