The only person who had a chance at stopping Naruto was Iruka with words. The Nara, Chouza, and Aburame guys were really just there to hold Naruto long enough for Iruka to speak to him.

Obviously, there is almost no one capable of stopping him through power, those that can are at war or on the bad guys side, except for maybe Bee.

Thus, it was pretty reasonable a setup.

The problem was lying to him in the first place. If Kakashi had explained it to him earlier, then I think it would've been more effective. Preventative medicine versus a band aid.

Well the group we have seen isn't the only one... Iruka said sth like "warn the barrier squad in that direction that Naruto is coming their way." So there has to be more.
Although i admit that group was rather weak... you have to ask yourselves who could actually stop Naruto... in terms of both speed and power... (only Bee and Raikage could do that right now)

This war's goal is to stop madara's plan which involves the remaining Jinjurickis (Naruto & Bee). Everyone in the village know what naruto's personality and attitude is. It's given that he saved the village, but it has nothing to do with keeping naruto off the war from the perception of people to naruto.

What Iruka and the others did was merely telling a white lie. That lie was for the common good and for the objective of the alliance to be successful which is to protect naruto and bee from madara. Doing that doesn't mean they see naruto as weak, well in fact its not. He could actually wipe half of the Zetsus if he fight, but he would be vulnerable to Madara, Kabuto and Sasuke.

Those people who were guarding naurto were strong, imo. It's just naruto is on another level.

i think that the point of those guys being there was for support... i think that the fail was n their faith that Iruka would be able to counter naruto's superior jutsu wit talk no jutsu Iruka style...

how do you know tht those 2 big guys arnt strong maybe there powerful you assuming tht there nothign tht there weak you havnt seen them fight you dont know anything about him it really didnt matter who was thee htoguh naruto would have run off no matter what
