    Strongest Genjutsu Types

    Strongest Genjutsu Types

I have a theory(btw, really sorry if this is redundant, made before or anything) about the classification of genjutsu and which ones are the strongest. I'll go about this by examining 5 examples of genjutsu shown in the manga, and try to use that to support my theory, which is: genjutsu's that require a direct appeal to either one of the 5 senses (sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell) are the strongest types of genjutsu.

    Genjutsu Types

    I'm putting them into 2 different categories for the purpose of this thread . Namely;
    1. Standard Genjutsu's
    2. Sensory Genjutsu's.

    Standard Genjutsu's.
There are 3 distinct examples of these that i feel have been shown in the manga. They are:
1.Genjutsu using handsigns, such as the one used by the hidden cloud jounin
    on Sasuke and Jugo.
    2. Kurenai has been known as a genjutsu expert, and i have never seen her
use a genjutsu which needed an input to any of the sensory organs. I
suspect she is in the same category as the hidden cloud nin above.
    3. Genjutsu was placed on everyone present at the end of the chuunin exams
    and is the 3rd case.
    Sensory Genjutsu's
2 examples of extremely powerful, extremely well heard of genjutsu's in this list:
    1. The toad song. A croaking duet is played by the two elder toads, Ma and
Pa, respectively. It was strong enough to immobilize three bodies of Pain.
It requires time to hit the right frequency to take effect.(Hearing)
    2. Itachi Uchiha's tsukiyomi. Arguably the strongest genjutsu in all of naruto,
the victim just has to look into the sharingan eye, and be trapped in 3
days of torture, a moment in the real world.(Sight)
    3. Blade of Totsuka in Itachi's susanoo. Any who are pierced by this blade are
sealed into an eternal world of genjutsu.(Touch).
    Manga Links
1.The hidden cloud ninja using genjutsu by handsigns:

    2. Itachi's Tsukiyomi:
    http://www.narutobase.net/manga/Naruto/142/15......and its effects:
    http://www.narutobase.net/manga/Naruto/142/17
    3. Use of a handsign to inflict genjutsu in the chuunin exam arc:
    http://www.narutobase.net/manga/Naruto/114/15

    Conclusion:
Genjutsu which require to be either have the victim hear, see or feel
something are the strongest types of genjutsu NOT those with handsigns

+ reps would be nice, this took sum time.

all genjuitsu affects one or more of the cast upons senses. Like Jiryas sage mode juitsu that he caught 3 paths of pain in caught them by their sense of hearing. Sakura was caught in a odd one though, during the Sora filler. Kureni (sp?) is only shown using her genjuitsu, against Itachi, after the 3rd hokages death. Not sure if its in the manga. But it failed against Itachi.

I think you would be better off classifying them in degrees of strength. Maybe the ninja rank system.

Hmm yeah but the genjutsu's i gave in my example/s for 'standard genjutsu' don't need to affect a sense before its cast. Valid points otherwise, + reps would be nice.

The senses are affected once cast. Thats what a genjuitsu is/does. Not sure it matters of they need hand signs or to look into a sharingan(ect). Unless your trying to sort out how they are cast. Then thats a diffrent story.
No type of juitsu has a result before its cast, because nothings happened to disrupt a persons chakra flow.

Nice classification but you missed Izanagi cause it's still a genjutsus type.
I will have preferred that you classifies it into 3 categories - the 2 you mentions and Dojutsus genjutsus. Otherwise, it not bad...

Also, there's still Naruto's Talk No Jutsu which affect the heart and minds of people just kidding

Bolded^^ , that's exactly the whole point of this thread. How they are cast, and the ones which require you to see sth, hear sth,etc for the illusion to work being the strongest types of genjutsu.

Thanks. However i don't think izanagi is really a normal genjutsu, as it basically alters reality, whereas genjutsu is an illusory world, that does not affect reality.

    Re: Strongest Genjutsu Types

Your thread is about the strongest types of genjuitsu, and how they are sorted. Which is diffrent than how diffrent genjuitsu are cast, and what senses they effect. Unless I read the title of your thread and thesis wrong.

Izangi, Its cast when the user seals its sharingan away to evade death and warp time/space upon themselves.

Tuskonomi is cast once the caster has attained the MS and the other person looks Itachi in the eye. As well as binding genjuitsu, these can be activeated with a 3 toemo sharingan.

He also has lower level genjuitsu he can cast with a single finger.

And in that case I'd beg to differ my oppinion than yours Izangi is a time/space technique that saved its users ass more than once.

It is the strongest genjutsu type, and that 'type' refers to genjutsu's which can be inflicted if you see sth, hear sth, etc. That's the strongest genjutsu 'type'. What part of that don't you understand?
Yes izanagi is a space time tech but i'm saying its not really a genjutsu.

If Izangi wasnt a genjuitsu why does it allow the user to fake their own death, and come out unscathed? Its a genjuitsu you cast on yourself. Seems like Sauskes,Karins, and Madaras senses of sight, and the sound effects are fooling their sense sight and hearing you ask me but thats me.

    http://www.narutobase.net/manga/Naruto/476/18

Its kind of like saying subistuition juitsus, and clone techs are not illusionatory techs as well.

I get what your saying but your not getting what other people are saying.

All genjuitsu affect at least one sense thats how it controlls the other preceptions of reality. Think what you want and good luck on sorting out all the genjuitsu, but there are also genjuitsu in the anime that are not mentioned in the manga so have at em..and good luck.

Their probabaly the hardest to avoid. Look at a bird call or a elephants noise, or Whale sounds they travel for miles in the given enviorment and permieate the area on a wider range than the narrow field of someones eyes. Or within the casters range of sight with their hand signs ect.

    Re: Strongest Genjutsu Types

Genjutsu is too rare in Naruto. Its almost hard to find people that use the techniques. It is few and far between considering how effective Genjutsu is when it is implemented. You would think after all these chapters there would be more than a few occasions where it is used not in combination with a dojutsu.

    Re: Strongest Genjutsu Types

I agree with you that Inazagi is not a genjutsu. If so its one of a kind. It turns reality into illusions. Every other genjutsus does the complete opposite by turning illusions into reality, or bringing a person from reality into an illusion.

but what i mean is that Madara was blown up and killed by Konan. He uses Inazagi and turned the reality of him dying into an illusion. now instead of being dead he is actually alive.

Inazagi is on a whole other level.

and with the rest of these genjutsus they are rarely seen in Naruto. they are all different in there own ways. just like every ninjutsus is different in there own ways.

there has been alot more genjutsu use in the manga besides the ones you explained though. like Kakashi used genjutsu on Sakura. there was a filler about Kurenai teaching some kid genjutsu, there was alot of genjutsu users in that one. in a recent filler Jiraiya and Naruto faced a ninja that was associated with Hanzo that specialized in genjutsu. Sasuke used Tsukiyomi on Bee and Danzo. Sasuke used a weak genjutsu on Danzo to make him think he had 1 more Inazagi. etc

also Tsukiyomi depends on the skill level of the user. Itachi could control space and time of it. Sasuke couldnt. both Bee and Danzo broke free from Tsukiyomi from Sasuke, Kakashi survived Tsukiyomi from Itachi (or Itachi spared him), Sasuke countered Itachi's Tsukiyomi.

    Re: Strongest Genjutsu Types

Actually : Genjutsu is created when a ninja extends their chakra flow through the cerebral nervous system of their opponent to control their mind's chakra, thereby affecting their five senses. So all genjutsu affect your five senses... and if you don't hear, see, smell it and so on you can't be caught in it because there is no way for the opponent's chakra to control your mind.
Even here: http://www.narutobase.net/manga/Naruto/461/4 if they weren't looking at it they wouldn't have been caught in it, and that's why sasuke was able to see through it because it was also a visual and thus sensory genjutsu and he saw through it with his sharingan.
And about Izanagi... it is said that it is the strongest GENJUTSU once can cast on himself and even though it works the other way around... it is still considered a genjutsu.
