[Discussion] What was the entire point of Nagato's existence

..Just for Kishi to tell us Naruto's Talk-no-Jutsu will end war/hate?

Nagato shouldn't have existed if he's going to dominate Konoha and then revive it again. His parents were killed by the Leaf Shinobi, and yet he's willing to roll over for a 16yrs old child who has never experienced war? Just because he's the person who's going to rid the world of hate: Good luck with that one Kishi.

Another character's existence I never understood was Yamato. . .

If Nagato never existed, Jirayia would not have met him that day and would not have trained him and perhaps continued to try and find another student. He would maybe eventually found someone else and spend a lot of time on him/her and maybe not be in Konoha to train Minato. Minato would not end up becoming the genius that he was and maybe he would have been killed before naruto was born, or wouldn't be able to save naruto from Tobi.

Or if you prefer a more simpler scenario, Jirayia wouldn't have been killed by Nagato and naruto wouldn't learn sage mode and become Konoha's hero. As a result, he wouldn't have gotten this strong and would get pwned easily by Tobi

the mistake was letting nagato destroy the village in the first place, we knew that they would have to be revived somehow

and your expectations are to realistic, this is a manga after all so looking for a reason why someone exist is to much if you think about it lol

It's because the story.. well, it's a story. This isn't Street Fighter.

Different characters exist to push the story forward. I think it's safe to say Naruto learned quite a bit during the battle against Pain, and he became truly accepted by the village, too. Major story advancement right there.

Yamato has a good purpose to this manga....HE CONTROLS THE KYUUBI IN NARUTO!!!! So his training goes better, and he can/could stop the kyuubi from getting out and goin bonkers!!!


And Pain/Nagato was already explained.....

Pain was a block in the road that was to show how strong naruto has become. He killed his sensei, so Pain was there for naruto to take revenge upon/show how strong he is so he can measure up with MS Sasuke

It's like saying: What is the point in Minato? Afterall he just sealed the kyuubi in Naruto, invented the rasengan, and was feared by other villages; but other than that, there is really no meaning to him, except the fact that he is Naruto's father, but its just a small detail.
