i think minato has got this, but i think minato and itachi are on equal skill levels. they've got the same amount of skill, but minato's abilities are good specifically for countering itachi's. he's fast enough to dodge amaterasu, skilled enough in taijutsu to do decently while not looking into itachi's eyes to avoid tsukuyomi. the last thing stoppign him, susanoo, can be bypassed if he marks itachi with the ftg seal.

thats the key to the match really, because skilled as minato is, he has to get the seal on itachi before he uses susanoo, or else he's done. it would be somewhat difficult however, as marking a sharingan user as skilled as itachi before he can react would be extremely difficult.

people always think these threads are about who's stronger, but its really not. one ninja can be much stronger than another, and still lose to him because his skills are a bad match for the weaker one's skills.

minato and itachi have around the same strength, in fact i think itachi is stronger. but minato's specific skills are a good counter for itachi's.

Well as my username suggests those are my two favorite characters. This is a tough one, Minato obviously has the speed but Itachi has a defense which only has one weakness, the amount of chakra he has. Really they are both untouchable with FTG and Itachi's Susanoo weapons.

The way I see it, Minato would win if he managed to tag Itachi with an FTG seal before Itachi put up Susanoo, because with the Yata mirror and the Totsuka sword his Susanoo is literally invincible. There is no attack in the Naruto universe that can beat it, unless Minato can teleport inside of Susanoo if he tags Itachi. However if that doesn't happen then I don't think either one would win. Itachi is amazing and great but Minato is too fast, he obviously wouldn't be able to hit him with amaterasu the Totsuka sword. Itachi's only chance is if he manages to look Minato in the eyes, then Tsukuyomi has him.

I'm not going to vote because this fight could go either way, each of them have only one real way to get guaranteed win and both of those things hinge on the other person not starting off serious.

Also I think Itachi shouldn't have left the village but instead become the fifth hokage. No one is as dope as him except Minato.

Well, Itachi only achieved Mangekyō Sharingan in one eye unlike Sasuke so he will not have Susanoo. He can only do Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi with the Sharingan.

By beating Madara[with ETERNAL MANGEKYOU SHARINGAN], Minato moved over and above Itachi. If he can handle and wound Madara, Minato wouldn't even waste time on Itachi, because he'd be beat. And FTG, is as epic as they come really, it's even faster than the Raikage, and we saw that the Raikage was faster than amaterasu and evaded Susano'o. Yes Itachi is a geniu, but Minato is a PRODIGY! Sharingan or not, Itachi would get his ass kicked. Also he'd be too fast to catch in Genjutsu and with a technique like the FTG, that requires precise chakra control, breaking out of genjutsu would be an easy task for a Hokage, especially one that was said to be a prodigy....
