He is sage. Whether that was an official rank or not. I don't know. He is at the level jiraya was except less experienced.

Who cares if people in konoha chuuum/joiuin. Look at sakura she is a chuuim so clearly ranks deosn't mean everything. I mean seriouly how did she get past genin.

Ranks at this point mean nothing because naruto has nothing to prove to anyone in his village or other villages for that matter.

Also if naruto went from genin to kage in one hit that would be a unbreakable record after he dies. It would be hard act to follow when naruto is gone.

I think Naruto would still fail the chuunin exam. The exam is not just about physical ability (if it is, he would pass it with a breeze), but its also about mentality, knowledge and leadership, like what Shikamaru's got. Naruto hasn't developed THAT much in those areas.

naruto is sannin level, the only one after Jiraiya besides Ma and Pa

and I think in his case Konoha can make an exception and just make him Sannin level officially since he saved the whole village

Sannin isn't a rank or level.. it's just a name given to Orochimaru, Tsunade, and Jiraiya, by Hanzou for defeating him

Maybe if/when he learns more then the two spam jutsu's he always uses they could make him a chuunin - not that he ever thinks about his team members or ever follows orders...

So in terms of strength he could be promoted but he's still a selfish child so no - IMO he needs to learn that he and Sasuke aint the only ppl on the planet and others matter aswel.

Ok i agree that it is weird he is only a genin, but that doesn't matter to ANYONE... ranks in a village are only used to make it easier to keep track of ninjas, to assign missions, to help with organizing... the rank doesn't actually represent that ninja's full potential, power (both raw and brains).
Also he was at kage level when he mastered sage mode. Proof for that is Shikaku when he said that Naruto is on a whole other level now... and he is a Jōnin. Right now, after he learned to control the Kiuby's chakra he is above Kage level in terms of power.
Also right now any rank doesn't matter at all, ninjas are fighting as a shinoby army... no one cares if his comrade is a genin, kage or chunin.
And about Naruto i am sure he will get his OWN rank, his OWN title after this war.
Oh and stop being so obsessed with Naruto's official rank... he should be a Jōnin but that would mean to put him in charge of a team, this would not fit Naruto at all, and neither the story... there's your reason for him remaining a genin... yea they could make him a chūnin but that would ruin the whole fun... the fact that he is still A GENIN makes him special...

yea agreed. no matter his rank naruto is considered a hero since he killed pain. and when he defeats madara he will be considered a hero in all the narutoverse. But all he should be at kage level. because he saved his village from pain and is going to save the world from madaras "moon eye plan".

yeah but you have to consider how much naruto has grown up in a short time since he fought pain... he seems alot more mature now... i think that now he has the capabilities to be a leader and lead a team.
