All these Vs Threads

Yes there annoying, and to be honest extremely pointless... There basically popularity contests...

For example Minato Vs Itachi:
Minato fans: "Minato will obviously win because of his speed and FTG."
Itachi fans: "Itachi will just use susano'o and seal him with totsuka".

Its just basically choosing your favourite character then picking out there strongest points and saying they will win just because of that...

not necessarily, im a fan of kisame but i don't automatically assume he could beat everyone by using Samehada.
It's all just a matter of opinion, however you are partially right, there are some pretty loyal fans who believe their "role model" could beat anyone

This thread won't stop those people from making the threads. They're only gonna increase now that theres a Versus thread section. I do agree though.

i like the latest threads on the home page because it gives you a variety of things to choose from but now it seems like half the time im on all the latest threads are vs. threads and that just pisses me off

Yes, there is that aspect but most of it is just basically a popularity contest, or just stupid matchups where only common sense need be implied.

I agree although, some people cant help but put their ideals on the table u know. I think the reason theres so many vs. threads and so many post in those threads is simply because people are trying to prove others wrong. Its those more determined ones that annoy me. ~_~

Yeah I agree with you, they annoy me to no end, but it is nice that there is a whole section for VS threads so now I can just avoid the stupid ones being in with the rest of the discussion.
If all the people could state legitimate arguments for why the person they think would win would do so, I wouldn't mind...but half the time people are just like "ITACHI WOULD WIN CUZ HE'S GOT SUSANOO WHICH PWNS ALL."

They made a separate VS sub forum in manga discussion section. report any thread if you see them outside it and hope that mods move it there.

I actually believe that the threads are fine. It's the posts inside that one must merely sort through. Simply look through the logical ones in my opinion, and move on or reply. The response doesn't need to be lengthy to matter, it needs to be cogent and when possible concise. "Mega" responses can actually hinder discussion rather than facilitate it, given peoples' limited time.

Oh, and above all, they should be respectful. All those threads teeter on the edge of chaos (not the real one) where insults lead to this reverberatory explosion of insults, and the thread becomes a war between two people/parties.

Thus, in my mind the "utopian vs. thread post" is cogent and well organized, concisely written, and respectful.

I'm glad that they have a separate space as the last issue led to a distraction, albeit I don't recall if they already had one at that point. They can generate interesting discussion with the right people. Diversity is important to any ecosystem, this forum is one of those.

There are good debates on vs threads and it's worth it. Worst case scenario, you learn a few extra things you don't know about a character. Even if 90% of the people let's say would be biased, there some that will provide good arguments for both sides and that's what I'm looking for in a vs thread.
