That's what it looked like he did to me. He planned it, and then they went with it, but something went wrong along the way.

I think you could be right. Its not like Kakashi could say "Hey Pain, please close your eyes, so I can disappear."
I think that there definitely could have been 2 Kakashi's at that point.

I think, he didn't even show their plan yet, all of this was to confuse Pain, now I think they will start their plan to destroy him. The proof that Kakashi didn't die is, it says "The last thing left for Kakahsi is?" it may be plan or sth, but definitely not his death guys.

Chouji, his dad, and Kakashi were behind a wall or something when they discussed their plan. Or Pein couldn't see through the smoke..

thought about that too, but even if it was so, the fight would be nearly over.
after the use of the first raiton-clone, the dog-wall-doton (which won't have cost much chakra) and three raikiri he had just about half of his chakra left, so after the chains, the next raikiri and another raiton-clone and his doton-grab-technique he'll be nearly out of chakra. and he got hit by four or five direct repulsion-attacks, which sent every other guy except by him with maximum two hits down (even chouji). and kakashi said that he can't beat pain alone.

I think we'll see at least a use of the "ms", absorbing the nail and maybe hurting pain a bit on the surface, but this fight is going to end with one dead either pain or kakashi and i think it's probably kakashi. it's the way the fight is structured, a heroic last battle against the overpowered enemy of the most important secondary character. it has big similarities with asuma's fight.

as u say...but Kakashi has himself an enourmous chakra amount...he said it himself...I cant remember the chapter when he said about Naruto "He has more chakra than sasuke, if I come to think of it he has more chakra than me" which shows that kakashi has alot of chakra too...if he compared himself to Naruto which is...wellI think he will absorb the nail too but he will lose his sharingan.. Oo and the fight will end a draw because pein will forfeit and run out again...Whatsoever sooner or later these chapters Kakashi will die

Kakashi has a rather low natural chakra amount. When he said that they were both very young so it was surprising that Naruto had so much chakra at such a young age. Naruto has four times the amount of chakra Kakashi has naturally.

kakashi would have more chakra to fight with if he didn't have the sharingan. he told the Akaimichi's that he was down to half so i think he might be spent after this last attempt. a low chakra reserve is kakashi's one and only weak spot, he has to finish his fights quickly and efficiently or he's in trouble. however, i think this will go one of two ways.

1. kakashi used his remaining chakra to set and spring his trap INCLUDING a bushin of some sort while the Akaimichi's actually launch the final attack on pein.

2. that's the real kakashi and he's going to lose his sharingan eye but part of his plan was to get pein to use his gravity jutsu on him so that the Akaimichi's strike the final blow while pein is focused on kakashi. kakashi mentioned that he doesn't think pein can use that jutsu in rapid succession. i don't see kakashi dieing but he might've sacrificed himself so the others could attack pein. but what do i know hehe...

i don't think he has the chakra reserve to use his MS. the last time he used that dimensional jutsu it totally wiped him out of chakra.
