He gave Umari a final bit of council before allowing him to leave the temple grounds. Umari returned to Amegakure where official orders arrived via courier bird to enroll him into Amegakure's Ninja Academy. When they saw the seal of Master Gokens, Umari was almost immediately enrolled. It only took a year for Umari to graduate to Chuunin level. But his days at the academy came to an abrupt end when he learned that the Amegakure ninja captured a rouge samurai. The captured samurai was Hoshiro.
Out of a sense of loyalty, Umari sought to free Hoshiro. Under the cover of night, Umari staged a rescue and helped Hoshiro escape Amegakure thus branding himself a rouge ninja.
