Re: Custom Elements Bureau
Custom element Japanese name: 塩遁, Shiōton
Custom element English name: Salt Release
The element is based on: Earth + Water.
Facts that prove the element to be possible (in the manga context): Scientific Proof, Salt, also known as table salt, or rock salt, is a crystalline mineral that is composed primarily of sodium chloride, a chemical compound belonging to the larger class of ionic salts. It is essential for animal life in small quantities, but is harmful to animals and plants in excess. Salt for human consumption is produced in different forms: such as sea salt, refined salt, table salt, and iodized salt. Salt it is a crystalline solid, white, pale pink or light gray in color, normally obtained from sea water or rock deposits. Edible rock salts may be slightly grayish in color because of mineral content. Chloride and sodium ions, the two major components of salt, are needed by all known living creatures in small quantities. Salt is involved in regulating the water content, the fluid balance of the body. The sodium ion itself is used for electrical signaling in the nervous system. Because of its importance to survival, salt has often been considered a valuable commodity during human history. However, as salt consumption has increased during modern times, scientists have become aware of the health risks associated with too much salt intake, including high blood pressure. Therefore health authorities have recommended limitations of dietary sodium. This element is going to be one of the solid-cristalic forms of salt, Halit commonly known as rock salt. Halite occurs in vast beds of sedimentary evaporite minerals that result from the drying up of enclosed lakes, playas, and seas. Salt beds may be hundreds of meters thick and underlie broad areas. The salt domes are vertical diapirs or pipe-like masses of salt that have been essentially "squeezed up" from underlying salt beds by mobilization due to the weight of overlying rock. Salt domes contain anhydrite, gypsum, and native sulfur, in addition to halite and sylvite. They are common along the Gulf coasts of Texas and Louisiana and are often associated with petroleum deposits. Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Romania and Iran also have salt domes. Salt glaciers exist in arid Iran where the salt has broken through the surface at high elevation and flows downhill. In all of these cases, halite is said to be behaving in the manner of a rheid. Unusual, purple, fibrous vein filling halite is found in France and a few other localities. Halite crystals termed hopper crystals appear to be "skeletons" of the typical cubes, with the edges present and stairstep depressions on, or rather in, each crystal face. In a rapidly crystallizing environment the edges of the cubes simply grow faster than the centers. Halite crystals form very quickly in some rapidly evaporating lakes resulting in modern artifacts with a coating or encrustation of halite crystals. The uses of Halite: Halite is often used both residentially and municipally for managing ice. Because brine a solution of water and salt has a lower freezing point than pure water, putting salt or sal****er on ice that is near 0°C will cause it to melt. This effect is called the Freezing point depression. It is common for homeowners in cold climates to spread salt on their walkways and driveways after a snow storm to melt the ice. It is not necessary to use so much salt that the ice is completely melted; rather, a small amount of salt will weaken the ice so that it can be easily removed by other means. Also, many cities will spread a mixture of sand and salt on roads during and after a snowstorm to improve traction. Manga Context: This is possible for a variety of reasons. The fact that Guren exists in the Narutoverse is allows for the possible of crystal manipulation, by extracting the needed minerals out of the ground (to create the known crystal that she uses). The closest release to this concept would be Guren of course as she is the only known character that can use a crystal type element, thus allowing creation for other types such as; Jade, Water Crysals & Halite (aka rock salt, extracted out of the ground).
How it works: Salt release is an advanced chakra nature type that involves combining earth, water based chakra. It's a kekkei genkai created by Lucifer. It involves the use of salt and other sodium compounds to sting and irritate the opponent this would be the posibility if it wasn't in its halite state, or to Blind the opponent in vast quanities of salt. Through this nature release, one can also extract pure sodium and chlorine from things such as seawater and the human body. By combining Earth + Water chakra, and it's performed on a similar way that Shodaime performs his wood style technique's, by claping .
(Shioton: Shio no Soushi) - Salt Release: Salt Creation
(Shioton: Akuma no Hana) - Salt Release: Demonic Flower
(Shioton: Sairei no Hebi) - Salt Release: The Snake of Festivals
Conditions to be able to use it: Mastery over the required elements.
Is weak to:
♦ Lightning release, having seen Kakashi use his chidori to break through guren's crystal prison, thus is lightnng able to turn rock salt into dust.
♦ Fire release, if used a high level fire attack such as zukkoku, It will melt the rock crystals thus rendering the material useless.
♦ Lava release, well lava is much hotter than actual fire so it can melt salt crystals before it even makes contact.
♦ Dark release, is composed of lightning and fire so obviously salt technique's won't work against such an element.
Is strong against:
♦ Earth release, it's much denser and compact making it stronger than earth itself and earth being the mother element, it can easly pierce through earthen domes etc.
♦ Wind release, it isn't able to slice through the hard rock salt crystals so the salt is able to withstand wind attacks.
♦ Water release, well salt is extracted it out of sea water thus being a source for salt creation, and rock salt being denser and much more compact than regulair salt it can withstand water attacks.
♦ Ice release, well it's obvious why salt is able to melt through ice release so there isn't an explanation needed.
Students I passed this custom element on too: None.
✗ Declined: Well for starters write in paragraphs and use spaces, don't just write everything in a block. Secondly leave all the scientific stuff to a minimum. Most of what you wrote you just copy pasted from wikipedia. How am I supposed to approve an element which you apparently don't even understand yourself very well considering you can't even explain it in your own words? Also what do I care where you can find it in the real world and such stuff? That's all unnecessary information. First and foremost stick to the important parts. Your strengths are not accurate either: salt dissipates in water, so how could it be possibly strong against it? Why would salt be stronger than earth? I would be more inclined to go also into the direction of a weakness. You need to realize that it's not just because it can't be qualified as a weakness, it instantly becomes a strength. There is still a level between those two, something a lot of people keep ignoring. And can't you find any more concrete evidence that salt exists in Naruto other than Guren? As you just have proven with that that a crystal structure exists, but that has not so much direct relevance to salt.
