Lightning Uchiha V3.
Lightning - ライトニング
"Lightning. It flashes bright, then fades away. It can't protect. It only destroys."
Name: Lightning (Claire Farron Uchiha)
Lightning has long light pink hair, blue eyes and a pale skin. She wears an uniform based around a sleeveless white overcoat over a brown turtleneck-like shirt and green metallic pauldron with yellow stripes symbolizing her rank as a Sage. Notably, she also wears a red cape attached to her back on the left side, a long black sleeve over her left arm, knee-high leather boots, and a brown mini-skirt over high-topped black shorts. Her blade is carried behind her in a black case which hangs off her belt, along with a red pack strapped to her left leg. In addition, she also has a necklace with a lightning bolt pendant, two black bands around her right bicep, and a silver navel piercing. Her gloves, blue leather-like fingerless gloves, have an iron part attacked to the back of them. This make punches more painful. Lightning’s ninja weapon equipment is all in the red pack which is strapped to her left leg, that way she can get weapons out in no time. Her sword, also based on speed is fold-able and unfolds directly when taken out of the case. She also carries a huge sword with her, this is the Mephistopheles’ sword and it is strapped to her back.
Lightning is determined, concentrated and independent. Initially, she is a cold and standoffish person to others, often distancing herself from her companions; which stems primarily from her irritation over her refusal to believe her sister Serah's plight. Because her parents died when she was very young, Lightning had to take the responsibility of taking care of her sister, Serah at quite a young age. This caused her to have no time to be childish and so she grew up pretty quickly. However she was very affected by her parents’ death as well as her sister, she could not show it for the sake of Serah. She trained and fought to get rid of the painful thoughts and emotions. Due to this, she did not spend much time with Serah and blames herself for that fact.
Much of her motivation is thus fuelled from what she perceives as failing to properly protect Serah and wanting to make things right, which leads her to lash out at those she believes are responsible for that and the army of Iwagakure (see history), to a point, Snow Villiers, due to his relationship with Serah and his own failure to protect her as he promised. Lightning's early solution to things that annoy or upset her is to distance herself from them, either emotionally or physically. There are a few times when she attempts to reach out to her companions for help, but refusing to show any signs of weakness, she comes across to them as arrogant. Over time, however, Lightning does begin to show compassion and trust towards others, and sees the errors in her approach.
Her strong independent nature probably originates from her career as sempai in Iwakagure. Lightning appears as somewhat ruthless, as she and Sazh Katzroy make their way through Iwakagure as battle rages inside it. She seems to find it somewhat difficult to trust people. Nevertheless, Sazh followed Lightning as she just carried on with what she had to do regardless of his presence.
Although she is annoyed with him at first, she eventually takes Hope Estheim under her wing, and shows him the ropes of battle. As she teaches him how to survive and look out for himself, she develops a bond with him as he becomes, in a way, almost like a little brother or son to her; and possibly as a result of seeing a bit of herself in him, she comes to confide in him and realise the mistakes she had made with Serah. Then she slowly begins to accept Snow and ultimately forgives him when she realises he, too, cares deeply for Serah. By the time Lightning meets Fang, her rage at those who are slaves of the system and the army of Iwagakure has dissipated, and her anger, despite finding out the woman's unwilling involvement in the situation, is short-lived. In the end, she becomes the leader and, to some degree, protector of the other ninjas on her squad as they challenge their fate.
As she has been in Iwagakure for quite some time and due to her quest to save Serah and all of Iwagakure, Lightning has learned to trust the people around her, and ask them for help when she knows that she cannot do something alone. She also expresses her emotions more, rather than keeping them bottled up inside her. This overall made her less gloomy and more kind towards others. This is also due to the fact that she became sensei and more people depend on her and her judgement. Letting people know what she thinks is crucial for a good performance. Now she gained some more respect from others she is easier to talk to, but still she doesn’t blindly thrust people for what happened in the past.

Lightning's father died when she was young, and her mother died from an unknown illness when Lightning was fifteen. With no other family to turn to, Lightning was given the job of raising her younger sister, Serah. In an attempt to get over the pain her parents' deaths caused and become an adult as quickly as possible, she decided to change her name from Claire Farron to simply "Lightning". This also was because in her eyes, she could only destroy things instead of keeping them save from destruction, like actual lightning does. After graduating from the ninja academy, Lightning decided to join the army of Iwagakure, where she and her sister had moved to. They moved to Iwagakure to get away from the memories of their parents, and because everyone knew what their story was. All those people would only get involved. Because Lightning joined the ninja army at such young age she learnt a lot in little time and became better at being ninja every day. This also gave her the feeling she could protect Serah in a better way and it would help her deal with the sadness and powerlessness she still felt because of her parents’ deaths. After a while in the army she attained a high rank, and was scheduled for even more training to become sensei. However, she slowly began to lose sight of her real goals, and worked many hours as sempai while spending little time with Serah. Once she noticed this she began to hate herself for that fact and trained even more to get rid of the frustration, paradoxically trapped in this routine.
Whilst in the army of Iwagakure, Lightning has always held a disdain for certain other people there. Snow Villiers, another ninja of the army and Serah's boyfriend, is a particular point of annoyance for her, and after a forced encounter with him, Lightning vows to have nothing to do them as well as dissuade her sister's affections for the exuberant man. Of course, she knows that she cannot stop them from loving each other, which only worsens the matter for her as she feels the lack of control she has over things like that, but she is not ready to give in yet.
As Lightning's twenty-first birthday approaches, she begins to feel guilty for her lack of attention to Serah all the time she had been working and training, feeling that she likely only got involved with Snow in order to quell her feeling of loneliness and therefore did not really love him. This gives her hope of breaking their relationship and get rid of Snow. Browsing the mall in Iwa, she overhears a conversation between two ninjas, Vanille and Fang, inspiring her to plan a vacation away from Iwagakure for her birthday with Serah to give her the attention she deserved and keep her away from Snow for a while.
She notices two fugitive ninjas, but judging them by their clothes and headbands, she believes they must be from Konohagakure, the town where she herself originates from. A few days later, the ninjas of her army squad are trying to hunt down one of the Konoha ninjas. Though they do not explain the intention behind their investigation, their captain asks Lightning to brief him on areas in the Land of Earth that foreigners are likely to visit in hopes of finding them, knowing that Lightning would have gone there as well when she was new in the Land of Earth.
While attending the Iwa fireworks festival, Lightning learns of a Konohagakure ninja-related incident nearby the bottomless pits being kept under wraps by the army. The captain warns her not to investigate, as it would only lead to trouble, and it was troublesome enough as it was. Lightning, forced to respect the orders of the captain, let’s go of the idea. The next day on Lightning's birthday, Serah reveals her fate as a rogue ninja escaping to Konohagakure, as well as her engagement to Snow. Lightning refuses to believe either claim, driving Serah away and demanding Snow to leave as well, leaving her alone to open Serah's birthday present by herself: a survival knife.
It is only when the army announces a rogue ninja is residing within Iwagakure that she is forced to believe them, though by then it is too late: after learning the army’s plans to search the entire town, Lightning immediately tries to find Serah, but Snow reveals she is being held captive inside of a bottomless pit somewhere outside of Iwagakure no Sato in army terrain. Although military ninjas are exempt from the pits, Lightning resigns from her job in the army without hesitation and boards the non-army related squad on a mission to the pits. This mission is organised to bring the army some supplies they need but could not be bothered to get themselves. As she waits in line, she is approached by another ninja, Sazh Katzroy, who is also voluntary on the squad. As allies of circumstance, they are forced to work together as Lightning tries to rescue her sister before she is taken out of reach.
As the squad leaves the gate of Iwa, Lightning takes it over with Sazh's aid, creating utter chaos just as planned by Lightning. Whilst the surviving the rough mountain area and the attacks of the squad members, escape the scene and are found by yet other ninjas, Lightning and Sazh fight their way through soldiers to reach the west side out of Iwa, where the pits are close by. Lightning keeps her motives to herself, despite Sazh's probing, determined to reach the pit and find Serah before it is too late. Along the way, they witness the true nature of the notorious bottomless pits of Iwagakure: everyone who gets in will never get out. And the sign beside the first one they see says ‘THIS IS IWAAAAA..’ as warning for ninjas that try to break the rules. Lightning tells Sazh it is ‘army logic': "Why carry the danger all the way to Iwagakure? Why not just stamp it out here in these pits? Execution masquerading as exile." Lightning and Sazh travel the rest of the way to infiltrate the area. Within the area protected by the army due to safety reasons, Lightning reveals Serah's fate as a rogue ninja to Sazh, just before she compares him to the people who started the army for believing anyone with the slightest chance of becoming a rogue ninja should be disposed of, or in any way, should be banned from the army and the city so they cannot do harm to the city. Once reached the pits, they find Serah unconscious inside a smaller pit. Unknown to Lightning, Snow also infiltrated the army grounds to find Serah, and the two arrive in time just as Serah awakens.
She asks Snow and Lightning to save Iwagakure before she suddenly turns to rocks and crumbles, she was a earth clone, a decoy used by the army because they knew people infiltrated their grounds. Snow attempts to approach the army’s main building and beg with the leaders of them to release Serah, but Lightning takes a more aggressive approach, attacking the building, alongside Snow and Sazh. As they finally break through the wall there is a huge swamp of pitch black mud, the group try to find a way to escape as they sink into the mud, realising this is not just an ordinary group of people, but smart ones that create traps everywhere. This wasn’t going to be as simple as they hoped. Whilst the details still remain hazy, they recognise the situation and that they will have to escape the mud and save Iwa from an unknown enemy to Iwa, their own army. Despite Snow's optimism that they are to save Iwagakure as Serah wished, Lightning is less than enthused about her new fate, especially because the Serah they saw was a decoy made by their new enemies. Running from the army, they come across another clone of Serah's, which makes it seem like the army is just playing with them. Snow promises to stay behind and protect the clone of Serah, while Lightning is convinced she is saying goodbye for good and grows irritated enough with Snow's failure to protect Serah that their encounter comes to blows. Suddenly they see a large summoning. A huge snake-like creature with bright green eyes. The staggering smell of death fills the air as Lightning and Sazh fight the summoning which began to attack them. After battling the giant Snake summoning, Lightning attempts to leave again only to be blocked by Snow. She reprimands him for apparently wanting to abandon his plan of saving Iwa and choosing to die instead.
After Snow tells Lightning that he will fulfil his ‘mission’ and keep Serah safe at the very same time, she splits with him and leads the remaining group onwards out of the army's clutches. After Lightning tells Vanille that Serah told her nothing about her mission, Vanille says that Serah probably did not want to worry her, but Lightning believes that Serah did not trust her. In a cave not too far away from their former location, Lightning tells Vanille to stay close, but she ignores her and runs ahead to explore until she is chased by another huge Snake summoning. Then the party finds a way to escape because of a tunnel Sazh had discovered earlier, though they are soon pursued. In an act of desperation, Lightning instructs Sazh to dig thought the ground to lose pursuit. As they finally reach the surface again they realise they got stuck in another field of nothing but rocks and earth at the foot of a big mountain.
Lightning's impatience towards the group causes them to separate, whilst Hope is the only one who follows her into the mountains. Coming at what seems to be a dead end, Lightning reveals to Hope why she joined the army and says, "It's not a question of can or can't. There are some things in life you just do." Hearing Hope's passive response, Lightning scales the wall and leaves him behind as well. When the group reconvenes by chance, Lightning resolves to head to the gate of Iwa and destroy yet another summoning which they could see from the mountain they had climbed half way now, as she believes they have to start to get serious in fighting their enemies and refuses to die a tool of the army. Once again, Hope is the only one to follow her, as Vanille and Sazh choose to aimlessly wander in the opposite direction further alongside the mountain. At first, Lightning is unwilling to have the young man tag along with her, worried he would only slow her down, but an army ambush permanently separates them from Vanille and Sazh, Lightning has no choice but to let Hope stay with her. Together, they form a plan to go through a great cave and go through a tunnel towards the part of Iwa where Hope’s parents live, thus past the gate.
At one point, Lightning and Hope gain access to a ruin where a building of the army used to be. As Hope curiously inspects it, Lightning tells him to stay away from it or he will hurt himself if it is unstable, but he does not listen and manages to find a hidden passage in the ruin. In her frustration and anger at having to look after him while trying to keep herself alive, she inadvertently summons her personal summoning, Raidji the Skunk King, who attacks Hope and destroys the left over parts of the ruin. Lightning saves him and the two defeat The Skunk King together, which seems to finally persuade Lightning to have faith in the boy and help him to 'toughen up'. She apologises to Hope and the two of them continue onwards towards the village’s gate. After disposing another group of ninjas that reacted to the sound of ruins being destroyed, Lightning tells Hope to rest whilst she checks the area and returns to find him asleep. As she watches over him, she hears him asking for his mother in his sleep and sarcastically says, "Not by a long shot".
Lightning and Hope make their way to the part just outside of Iwa where even more ruins are, seemingly left there by their previous owners without real cause. She decides to lead while Hope watches their backs, but he asks her if he can lead instead. Lightning smiles and lets him take the lead at his request while she acts as his backup. Later, she gives him the knife Serah gave to her as a birthday present in an attempt to boost his confidence and protect him. Lightning and Hope wonder how the other are faring. She goes on to describe her impression of Snow and how he leads his squad in and out of troubles all the time. Hope agrees with lightning’s views on the squad, "It's irresponsible," he says and walks onward with a grim expression on his face.
Hope eventually reveals to Lightning the grudge he holds against Snow for his mother's death. Taking the lead once again, they come across some fallen ninjas trapped smaller pits. Hope attempts to help them but Lightning pulls him back to the ground, warning him not to show the enemy any sympathy since it's kill or be killed. She helps him devise Operation Nora to help him control his emotions and focus, but immediately regrets it after he calls it his plan for revenge against Snow. Lightning tells Hope that the army killed his mother and not Snow, even though it might have looked that way. Then Hope decides to get revenge against Snow anyway, and help Lightning take down the army to save her sister. After they escape the ruins and see a better part of Iwa in the distance within the gates, Lightning suggests that she and Hope visit his house, in order to change his mind about revenge and also because he needs to tell his father about what happened to his mother.
The city is littered with army ninjas who seem to be searching for the ones that caused chaos and attacked their squads, so Lightning and Hope are forced underground to avoid capture. Lightning looks at the reflection of herself in her sword, she has a revelation: she has been an army pawn since birth, even before becoming an enemy of the army, and even now; and in having that comfort taken from her, she wrongly turned to fighting blindly to avoid facing reality at any costs. Realising she had dragged Hope into the same delusion, Lightning tells him to abandon Operation Nora, and as she relives her guilt for setting Hope on the path towards revenge, Lightning reassures Hope that she will not abandon him, whatever happens.
Later, Lightning reveals to Hope why she changed her name for Serah's sake. As she sees a vision of Serah and Snow, she relives her guilt for threatening Serah and not believing her when told she was a rogue ninja, unlike Snow, who always believed her. Then she blames herself for him being confused and willing to give up now that they no longer have a plan in mind. She tells him to talk to his dad and "find the hope he was named for" in order to find a new reason to keep fighting.
The two make their way into the city, where they are immediately surrounded by ninjas led by Yaag Rosch, who intend to publicly execute them for treason against the army as well as against Iwagakure itself. Lightning attempts to convince Hope to save himself whilst she distracts the ninjas, but at the last moment, Snow and Fang intervene with kunais and shuriken, whilst Lightning attacks the ninjas and protects Hope. Then she forces him to run with Snow, whilst she escapes with Fang. They decide on Hope's home as their rendezvous point using Fang's wireless device, but before Lightning can warn Snow about Hope's grudge against him, the latter reveals his intention to complete Operation Nora, and they are cut off before Lightning can attempt to reason with him.
On their journey, Lightning learns Fang is not only an enemy of the army as well, but is originally from Konohagakure like herself. Fang says that she and Vanille were captured there long before after completing their mission, but woke up in Iwagakure without knowing why or how they had gotten there. Although Lightning is angry at Fang and backhands her when she learns of the woman's involvement in Serah becoming a rogue ninja as well, she says the act of aggression didn't change anything. Lightning believes that she might as well be dead now that she no longer has a plan or anything to fight for; however, Fang assures her that Serah will wake from the bottom of the pits just as she and Vanille had, and says that in order to see her again, all Lightning needs to do is survive, keep on fighting and never give up. They hear several explosions, causing Lightning and Fang to worry that Snow and Hope had been found by the army and are being attacked. An explosion goes off in the distance and the two women hurry off to find them before it is too late.
They finally reunite with Snow and Hope, Snow is badly injured from a fall whilst protecting Hope. Lightning gets her knife back from Hope, then embraces him, promising to protect him before he promises to do the same for her in return. At Hope's house, Lightning looks after Snow and tends to his injuries. When he finally awakens, she explains the pain she felt for not trusting Serah like he did and then apologises to him for her previous behaviour towards him, which he gladly accepts. However, their conciliation is interrupted by the need to figure out what to do next. Hope's father shoots several holes in their main plan, but whilst they continue to discuss the issue, the house is attacked by the army of ninjas, once again led by headninja Rosch. He tells them that although he personally doesn't agree with hunting them and everything else army-related like the pits, it is what the people want. However, chaos suddenly ensues, and they are rescued by the another squad.
They learn Sazh and Vanille are being held captive on the east side and Lightning recognises the army is trying to draw them out of hiding. Regardless, going after the two happens to line up with another mission: confronting the Snake summonings of the army. After meeting up with Sazh and Vanille, they confront one of the Snake summonings, who abruptly reveals himself to be one of the strongest and most talkative. He tells them something both baffling and crushing to their cause: their mission was not to save Iwagakure, but to destroy it by turning against the army, and that Serah's true mission was only to gather them together for that purpose and not to run away in the process. Shocked, the party is forced to flee whilst on a smaller path which leads them to the right side and to safety, but they suddenly pass a gate they never saw before.
At the other side of the gate, they ponder what to do next after learning their 'true' mission from the talking summoning. Snow apologizes to Lightning for being wrong about Serah's mission, but she insists they have to honour Serah's wish to save Iwagakure, even if it isn't their mission. The groups powers are eventually fully awakened by this long journey, also Lightning’s Sharingan is awakened by this due to the stress, pain and anger. After some time, they run into Cid Raines. Lightning charges at Raines calling him a traitor, but he easily blocks her attacks and disarms her. He reveals himself to be an army ninja marked by the talking summoning, tasked with aiding them as part of his secret mission, and that the army intend to destroy Iwagakure as their plan to bring back the former Kage and regaining their full power.
However, Raines denies his mission and tries to kill them to save his hometown. They defeat him, and Cid unexpectedly turns to stone, being cursed by the summoning somehow. Most of the party are inspired to defy their mission in the same way Raines did, even if it meant turning to stone. Fang however claims she will not let Vanille turn into her enemy and will complete their mission herself, inadvertently summoning her own summoning which can help her, but instead attacks her. Regardless, the others protect Fang despite her rebellion, and Lightning asks her to fight with them, which she eventually agrees to. The group finds a way towards another gate leading to the underground part of Iwa, which they take hoping to find answers on the world they did not know existed, the world that whole Iwa does not know of.
They find the underground part to be completely devoid of human life, and the party begins to lose their resolve after days of searching and not finding anything or anyone that can help them. As they get the feeling time starts to run out, Hope begins to despair. Lightning and Snow try to comfort him, but Hope inadvertently summons his summoning, attacking the group once again. Lightning encourages Hope, telling him that the summoning represents his inner power. After taming the summoning, the party agrees to journey to the pits together so that they can find a way to complete the mission. They travel through the surface again, having found nothing too interesting and go towards the location where more pits should be.
Lightning and Snow drift away from the rest of the party and talk about Serah. For the first time, Lightning asks Snow about their planned wedding, and promises him they will see Serah again soon before shedding silent tears. Snow promises Lightning they will see her together, after they save Iwagakure from the evil plans of the army. In the area of destination, the party is surprised to see Serah there, performing a lot of handseals. Lightning is suspicious, and demands Serah to stop, but the girl taunts her and reveals her real name. Snow steps in between them and it is revealed Serah is truly an enemy in disguise, trying to manipulate the party into doing his bidding. Lightning leads the assault against him before they get back to the city, knowing the talking summoning has wreaked chaos and havoc in the city itself whilst they were gone.
Sazh manages to discover a tunnel that leads to the centre of Iwa, where Lightning rides her summoning to escape the tunnel and infiltrate the city centre. They find that the chaos was a ruse, but approach the talking summoning and the army ninja who stands on top of him. The ninja summons Serah before the party and destroys her, much to their horror. However, Lightning quickly sees through the illusion, being specialised in genjutsu and having her Sharingan and implores Snow to remain strong and keep fighting. In trying to force Vanille and Fang to use kai to escape from the genjutsu and see what happens, Lightning and the others are easily dispatched and became paralysed for some reason. It is only when they relive their previous experiences and the pain that comes with that, that they manage to escape the paralyses, overcoming the ninja’s tricks. They defeat him and begin turning into stone as Iwagakure starts shaking. Lightning is solidified along with the rest of the party in the centre of Iwagakure.
They awake briefly afterwards, realising they are back to their former state and can move again, where they see Vanille and Fang have managed to fulfil their mission by both saving and destroying Iwagakure by encasing it in with more rocks than it already had. As Serah and Dajh, another lost ninja, approach the party after appearing right before them and have their moments with Snow and Sazh, Lightning comforts Hope regarding Vanille and Fang's departure, then reunites with Serah herself. Though she begins to apologize to her sister for not listening to her, it is cut short when Snow reminds them that they "have a wedding to plan". Snow reassures Lightning he will make Serah happy and will really protect her from now on, and Lightning says that she knows he will, and congratulates them.
Immediately afterwards, Lightning decides to find a way to save Vanille and Fang from the stone pillar they became trapped in after fulfilling their mission, saving the group and Iwagakure as well. She believes they will be able to find the answer hidden away somewhere in Iwa, and perhaps discover other survivors in the process.
Lightning worries about the fact they are no longer aided by Vanille and Fang, and believes it will be a long and difficult journey. After seeing that Serah is in good hands with Snow, she decides to take up the task on her own, after coming to the conclusion that she and the others will be tied down with new responsibilities, trying to return to their normal lives, and would not be able to accompany her.
After being released from her former mission as well as the ‘curse’ of the stones, with everything seemingly resolved, Lightning remained uneasy, and was soon caught in a paradox and attacked by incoming waves of darkness. She briefly saw her allies being surrounded, but before she could call out to them, the ground opened up and she was dragged into the abyss by chaos and darkness. In turn, she is removed from history or so it seems, and everyone except Serah believe her to be either dead or turned to stone anyway along with Vanille and Fang, and all that is left of her is her survival knife.
In actuality, Lightning falls through the ground and ends up in the Shinigami realm, the realm of death and chaos dislodged from time. The realm actually turns out to be a genjutsu, casted to protect the treasures and secrets of the old underground part of Iwa from being discovered or released. Whilst still trapped in the genjutsu she stands before the death goddess's throne and sheds silent tears. The death goddess grants her the power to use the same special genjutsu as she was trapped in. Having mastered this new power, Lightning is ready for some new training and a deeper understanding of the genjutsus and the secrets of old Iwagakure which lied in chaos for a long time. All the chaos and the secrets that come with that were banished from the surface into some sort of underground container that was protected by the genjutsu so that no one would get to actually know what had happened far before the village was respected as an actual ninja village. As Lightning looks out from the balcony, she has a vision of a young man falling through the same hole in the ground as she did. Caius, the protector of the secrets summons an army of Shinigami within the genjutsu and challenges her to battle. Lightning gets the Mephistopheles sword from her back and summons her own army of Shinigami, being clones, to fight alongside her as well as a huge snake. As she and her army are ready to attack , Caius summons a barrage of comets to attack her and to show her that everything looks completely different whilst trapped in the genjutsu.
Both Lightning and the snake dodge Caius's attack by ascending the floating rocks and she and Caius eventually meet each other face-to-face. Caius says he is impressed by her, but Lightning tells him to save it and they clash swords. Caius eventually catches her sword and points at his heart before the real battle starts. After long fighting and both having used much of their chakra, the two launch another series of attacks against each other before Lightning manages to gain the upper hand and bury Caius under a pile rocks in the heat of the battle.
As she turns around, having obtained the victory, Lightning sees an opening at the surface and a figure falling through it. She recognises the figure as the young man she had previously seen in her vision, a guy named Noel Kreiss. Lightning summons another snake and saves him from his fall before engaging the still alive Caius in an aerial battle when he returns from underneath the rocks. Defeating him again, Lightning and Noel jump off of the snakes and land onto the ground of the underground part of Iwa. As she cannot leave this part unprotected, Lightning tells Noel about Serah and asks him for his help. Showing him how to perform the genjutsu they were still trapped in which would serve as a way to attack the opponent, she also gives him black notebook containing instructions to find Serah and bring her to the underground part they currently were in. When Caius returns and summons a large meteor towards the two, Lightning urges Noel to jump into the tunnel she created to get to the surface. She uses her summoning to throw her into the meteor's path to try and stop it, but it seems to hit her, leaving Lightning's fate unknown to Noel.
Lightning eventually appears from the ground before Serah, Noel and Mog on the surface in Iwagakure, and sees how much has changed since she lived underground for quite some time. She apologises to Serah for not telling her she was still alive. She explains about the underground part of Iwagakure that seemed to be empty when they looked there before, but was only protected by the genjutsu. She says that they used the genjutsu down there to prevent an immense amount of chaos and secrets of the past from pouring out into the world but something went wrong, and as a result of being caught in the darkness beforehand, Lightning seemed to disappeared from existence.
Lightning tells Noel and Serah that Caius plans to destroy Etro in the underground part as she sleeps and unleash chaos out into the mortal world through an unseen tunnel that opens for the souls of the departed, thus through the genjutsu. She says that when the genjutsu would be performed by a large amount of people at once the city would become the realm of death, not just in the genjutsu, but everything would have been destroyed and would die. Lightning says if that were to happen a world of chaos would appear and time, life, and death would all become meaningless for no one would be able to escape the genjutsu. After Serah says that world will essentially become like Valhalla itself, Lightning believes that it is Caius's plan to create a timeless world trapped in the realm of the Shinigami.
Noel says that Caius wants to sacrifice countless lives and remake the world in order to save Yeul from her cursed fate. Lightning knows that she has been fighting Caius in both the underground city and the city itself, but the future won't change unless they deal with both problems first and she cannot do it alone. She entrusts Noel and Serah to stop Caius in the mortal realm while she deals with him in the realm of death underground. Serah asks if they will be together again after the conflict and Lightning softly smiles replying, "One thing at a time, Serah", and walks back into the tunnel.
Lightning calls herself the cause of a paradox that caused her to become separated from the surface for so long, fighting her demons underground. Though she had to admit that it gave her strength again to finally know how to use a new technique after learning so little for such a long time. She realised he had to thank her enemies as well for improving her way of fighting after she felt like being trapped in the darkness. She didn’t see her enemies as enemies at first but rather as friends, giving them an advantage over them she did not know of. But now she would finally defeat them for good. She would finally let the world know who is the last one to laugh.
After Serah and Noel's first battle against Caius in the underground realm of death in which they became trapped as well, they are consumed in a wave of darkness and sent falling into an abyss of light which was an illusion as well caused by the combination of the Shingami realm and a lightning jutsu, but Lightning appears and saves them, urging them to keep hope alive before vanishing again. After Serah and Noel's final battle against Caius, he tells the two he had killed Lightning before their battle even began, but Noel says it is a lie to deceive them. Then after the chaos of the underground spills out into the Land of Earth and turns it into the rest of the city, Lightning is seen sitting on Etro's throne, smiling as she knows she had defeated her demons. Her enemies know that she has become stronger and will even fear her and respect her. Lightning eventually stops the genjutsu before it completely consumes Iwagakure by destroying the underground part of the city. She then fills it up with rocks so that Iwagakure will not fall or collapse and no one can ever fall through the gap in the ground again for it is gone. Only she and a few others know how to use the chaos of the Shinigami realm now, and it will not cause any more harm to Iwagakure, that is, as long as Lightning has no plans..
To be continued..
Lightning Mastery: Lightning’s natural affinity is Lightning release. In lightning’s case however it’s a mastery of chakra control and precision. She can control the strength of her lightning techniques and perform them without unnecessarily wasting chakra. She could use lightning release techniques with precise unitary values, efficiently using her chakra employing no more than necessary. Apart from being to control lightning she could also perceive lightning technique prematurely including their unitary values by merely by looking at them, her sharingan further helps her at this. Efficiently using her chakra in cases also makes it faster to perform techniques.
Sharingan & Genjutsu: Lightning is an uchiha with 3 tomoe sharingan. This gives her enhanced reflexes. Lightning also has a good mastery in usage of genjutsu, these two compliments each other giving lightning good knowledge of both. Lightning has great control over her genjutsu and when used in combo with her sharingan it makes it much harder for her opponents to break free.
Kyotōryū Martial Arts: Lightning’s fighting style literally makes her a human sword. It’s a unique brand of nintaijutsu that stands on the middle ground of Gentle Fist and Strong Fist. Her taijutsu is a mixture of both technique and force adding to that the element of surprise of using the users body as a sword makes her all the more deadly.
-Enhanced Speed: lightning less affected to air resistance. Her training and methods makes her extremely fast, she has incredible stamina, being able to gain incredible momentum within a second and maintaining it for long periods.
-Enhanced Durability: Being a human sword, lightning have a body resistant to a variety of damages. Her defense itself is her offense.
-Cutting and piercing attacks: Her ordinary attacks have the ability to cut. Her hits are fast and precise. Combined with her sharingan she could predict her opponent’s possible defenses and always make the moves that would land a hit.
The Blazefire Saber: A sword specially designed for speed and flexibility. Lightning carries her "Saber" with her at all times. The sword can be folded at the engine like part near the handle (see pic), so that it can be put away in the black case which is attached to Lightning’s belt easier as well as get it out faster. It will unfold at the moment it leaves it’s case and can be folded again whilst pushing a button on the handle.
The Survival Knife: An interesting looking survival knife Serah gave to Lightning on her birthday. The knife started to play a big role in Lightning’s story, being given to Hope by Lightning to boost his confidence as well as to protect him. Lightning eventually took the knife back, and when she disappears it is the only thing left of her known to her friends.
Soul Reaper Swords: A collection summonable weapons. One sword, Mephistopheles, a big sword with an engine, is strapped to her back. This sword is a very special sword and will glow blue when infused with lightning chakra. The sword can be used to summon other weapons of the collection.

Lightning Uchiha V2: [X]
~Approved~ removed the gauntlet, removed the zero air resistance part, this must be the 3rd or 4th time I need to say this but that is IMPOSSIBLE unless you live in outer space. Also lightning does not require more chakra than any other element and is not going to increase your chakra levels.
