The Lesser Bird-of-paradise is a medium-sized bird with up to 32 cm-long, maroon-brown with a yellow crown and brownish-yellow upper back.

As we have lesser bird of paradise likewise we also have greater bird of paradise.
So the lesser bird resembles the larger Greater Bird-of- paradise, but the male of that species has a dark chest, whereas the female is entirely brown.
The Lesser Bird-of-paradise can be found in the forests of northern New Guinea, and the nearby islands of Misool and Yapen.
